Over the past two years, I've put more effort into honing my skills as a
presenter, coach and facilitator--I LOVE passing on knowledge. Some of
the groups I work with regularly as a coach and facilitator are The
Community Information Challenge program from The John and James L Knight
Foundation, The Knight Digital Media Center at the Annenberg School
of Journalism at USC, and Oakland Local Academy (see Curriculum of Change)
I also do quite a bit of speaking; a high point was interviewing Twitter founder Ev Williams last fall at the Online News Association conference. Another was the panel I did with Deanna Zandt, Baratunde Thurston and Cheryl Contee at my first Netroots Nation.

My thing is hyperlocal news and civic engagement. I like to talk about community engagement and outreach, bridging the digital divide, media entreprenurship, growing revenue with media companies, product strategy and development when you aren't trained as a product person, women in tech and leadership issues. I also like to talk to students and people in transition.
TRAINING & WORKSHOPS
I'm a skilled and in-demand trainer and facilitator and I love doing this work, both solo and with my amazing Oakland Local Academy team.
