Lincoln Millstein goes to Hearst Newspaper Group

One good way to fix a problem is to hire experience–and that’s what Hearst Newspapers seems to have done with the announcement that Lincoln Millstein, just about to retire executive vice president of New York Times Digital, and corporate overseer of the the Boston Globe ( and The New York Times (, web sites, is moving over to Hearst to serve as senior vice president of Hearst Newspapers and director of digital media for that group.
Owners of the SF Chronicle, the Houston Chronicle, the San Antonio Express-News, the Albany Times Union and the outstanding Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Hearst is one of the companies affected by the rise in the Bay area of sites such as CraigsList and by the growing disintermediation of news–Millstein’s experience should help lead them to solutions and greater profitability.
